EFT Stress Reduction Techniques for Disease & Pain



  • 1. Tap regularly using Basic Recipe with these setup statements. 
  • 2. Tap on the physical pain and emotion whenever it starts.




1. Where it all began: Tap on the situations and feelings around the time the disease/pain first started.

“Even though I’ve had this disease/pain since ________________,

 I deeply and completely accept myself.”

“Even though this disease/pain is related to _____________,

 I deeply and completely accept myself.”


2. That reminds me: Who or what does the disease/pain remind you of?

“Even though I have this disease/pain and it reminds me of _____________,

I deeply and completely accept myself.”


3. Triggers: What triggers the onset of the symptoms/pain? Tap on the triggers and the feelings they cause.

“Even though this disease/pain gets triggered whenever _____________ and that

makes me feel ________________, I deeply and completely accept myself.”


4. Dialogue: If the disease/pain could speak what would the message be?

“Even though this condition/pain is saying ___________________,

 I deeply and completely accept myself.”


5. Deeper: What is the emotional issue tied to this disease/pain?

“Even though this disease/pain comes from feeling ________________,

 I deeply and completely accept myself.”


6. The Pain: Tap on the details of the pain itself; the way it feels and its exact location. Do this regularly as a preventative or during an episode.

   “Even though I have this __________ pain in my ___________,

 I deeply and completely accept myself.”


7. Meaning: What is the downside of reaching your goal?  There are a few other ways to phrase this: What would you have to give up? What would change? What is scary about reaching your health goal?   

     “Even though giving up this disease/pain comes means ________________,

8. I don’t know: Tap on not knowing the answers to these questions. What comes up?

“Even though I have no idea why I have this disease/pain,

Lisabeth Gutiérrez is a stress educator with over twenty years of experience in adult education and personal development.  A graduate of Rutgers University and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, she has lived and taught in Latin America, Asia, and the US. Lisabeth holds certificates from two multi-disciplinary health programs: Harvard Medical School’s Certificate in the Clinical Training in Mind Body Medicine and the University of Rhode Island/RI Geriatric Education Center’s Certificate in the Interdisciplinary Practice of Geriatrics.


She received AAMET Advanced EFT Practitioner Certification under the training of two EFT masters in London, England and is a Certified Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists. She maintains a private practice and offers workshops for organizations including All That Matters, the National Fibromyalgia Association, South County Hospital, and other non-profit groups. A perpetual learner, Lisabeth continues to further her study of the psychosocial aspects of stress, health and wellbeing through coursework and participation in professional organizations including Integrative Medicine at Brown Medical School. She is also an active volunteer with Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island.


Lisabeth lives in Wakefield, Rhode Island, with her husband, two daughters, and six - yes, it’s true – six dogs.

Thanks for your article! I actually wrote something similar - 9 ways to deal with pain.

Wow you have 6 dogs! That's amazing. I bet they all have different personalities. And sizes. Would love to see pics. :) I have two dogs very dear to me.
