Tap-And-Talk With Chasing The Pain

The usual way of doing EFT is by tapping on the EFT points whilst repeating a Setup and Reminder phrase, and by measuring progress with SUDS (numbers from 10 to 0). However, there are times when we feel too upset or overwhelmed to do it in such a structured way. This is when tap-and-talk comes in handy.
"Gina" (not her real name), was feeling out of sorts. So she attended an EFT session with me and started working on the underlying issues, which had accrued over some 40-odd years. After some calming tapping for the way she was feeling in the moment, I asked her to imagine choosing a black and white photograph in her mind of one event or memory that can be released. However, as Gina saw the picture in her mind, she started crying and could not speak. At that point, I tapped on her without words, or just some reassurances, over and over again, until she was calmer and could speak. Finally, she indicated feeling the memory throughout the centre of her chest, from the Solar Plexus to the Throat chakras. So we tapped on the "pain just there" in-between her telling me how she had lost custody of her son to her abusive ex-husband, ll whilst I continually tapped on her. Eventually, the picture of losing custody of her little boy was represented by a small energy disruption just in the throat. We then tapped for "this feeling in my throat". I mentioned that according to Louise Hay, trapped energy in the throat is indicative of uncried tears or unspoken words. She agreed emphatically as she explained how she has learned not to say what she really wanted to say to her ex-husband, in order to avoid his temper, especially as he was letting her have access visits every week now without further animosity. I kept tapping on her continuously as she talked about the situation, getting it out of her system. First, she let a huge load off her chest, and then she released the rest from her throat; chasing this painful memory out of her body.
Gina looked like a different person when we finished, and she reported feeling much calmer afterwards.
If you have an issue which seems too much, try tap-and-talk. Simply tap as you talk to yourself about it, over and over again, until you feel calmer. That is the beauty of EFT; it is very flexible, so you can adapt it to the situation.
